Stepping into our headquarters, you can feel that Abbey’s different. The energy, the atmosphere, the community—it’s unlike any other construction company. But to understand what makes Abbey special, you have to dig deep into our history, all the way to the foundation.
In 1982, Joe Madden, along with Tim and Mike Gillian, founded Abbey Paving. At first, we were focused on sealcoating. Over the years, we expanded our services to include site concrete, structural building concrete, and more. By offering all the services our customers need, we gained more control and are now able to consistently deliver excellent quality while minimizing reliance on third parties. Today, we focus on delivering excellent construction service to satisfy our customers.
2006
As our work evolved, our company culture evolved with it. In 2006, two things happened that changed Abbey forever: We transitioned from family-owned to employee owned, and we moved into our current headquarters in Aurora, Illinois. As an ESOP business, our employees feel a deep sense of pride and ownership, and are intrinsically motivated to go further and dig deeper for our clients. Meanwhile, our sleek, modern office has provided a home base where our people can be comfortable and safe while pushing our industry forward.
